The Fire Of This Generation

The Fire Of This Generation

There’s a conversation that needs to be had today.

And let’s be honest
some of you won’t like it.
Some of you might get uncomfortable.
But that discomfort?
It’s necessary.

Because the fire of this generation didn’t come from the air.
It came from the weight of history.
From systems built on our backs,
then handed to us like we were lucky to even stand near them.

We are descendants of a people
whose free labor became the foundation of a nation.

And when the chains were “removed,”
we were thrown into a system
stacked with policies, prisons, and broken promises.
Offered gifts without ownership,
tools without the blueprint,
and told us that freedom had arrived.

But freedom without assets?
Is a setup.

And here we are
generations later,
witnessing how that setup echoes through our communities.

We see the gaps:
The lack of wealth passed down.
The inheritance of struggle instead of structure.
And the hard truth is…
This absence of ownership didn’t happen by accident.

And yet, we are still the fire.

Uncontainable.
Unfolding.
Unapologetic.

Let me bring you into today’s reality.

You may be clocking into a job.
You may be making deliveries like I do
dropping off packages to every kind of doorstep:
mansions, apartments, condos, trap houses, farms, brownstones.

You serve everybody.
Every race.
Every class.
Every kind of privilege or pressure.

And sometimes,
without saying a word,
you know you just handed a box
to someone whose entire legacy
was built on the unpaid labor of your ancestors.

And you still smile.
Not because you’re passive
but because you understand the assignment.

You're not there to play victim.
You're there to stay grounded.
To stay focused.
To build your own.

This isn’t just about Black people, either.
It’s about every human
who has been shut out of legacy.
Who’s had to start from scratch.
Who’s working while dreaming,
serving while becoming.

But when it comes to us,
there’s a different kind of resistance.

Because when you’re Black,
Your growth itself is political.
Your joy is questioned.
Yourself expression is criminalized.
Your loud music, your art, your fashion, your confidence
are labeled as threats.

Our wellness is disruptive.
Our healing makes some uncomfortable.
Our success activates fear.

And to that we say: good.

If our presence shakes you
maybe you’ve been standing too comfortably
on systems that weren’t built to include us.

But here’s the deeper truth:

Racism is a disease.
It is not power.
It is fear wearing arrogance.
It is jealousy dressed as tradition.
It is hate that hasn’t looked itself in the mirror.

And it doesn’t matter what race you are

If you carry that disease, you’re working against humanity.
And if you’re Black and you carry that disease
you’re working against your own growth.

Because when you fight the progress of your own people,
when you diminish their ownership,
when you downplay their brilliance
in the name of hierarchy or hate
you are doing the oppressor’s work for them.

And that?
Is a betrayal of your own inheritance.

This generation?
We’re not doing that.
We’re not begging for a seat.
We’re building the table.

We’re not dimming our light.
We’re adjusting the room.

And if our growth makes you uncomfortable,
if our ownership challenges your illusions,
if our presence disrupts your fantasy of control?

Then you will have to suffer.
Or evolve.
Or step aside.
Because this growth is nonnegotiable.

We’re not your animals.
We’re not your entertainment.
We’re not your labor force.
We are not to be farmed, caged, or studied.

We are creators.
We are owners.
We are the rise that can’t be reversed.

This isn’t rebellion.
This is restoration.

This is not rage.
This is return.

So no, we’re not waiting.
We’re delivering this truth, loud and clear:

You can’t stop a generation that already knows who it is.

We are the fire.
We are the frequency.
We are the future, and we know it.

And if you align with this truth,
if you support this rise,
then you are in the right place.

If not?

Fate will handle the rest.
