LEAVE THEM TO THEIR WORK

LEAVE THEM TO THEIR WORK

People are afraid of their own shadow.

People are afraid of death. Afraid of the end. They want to hold on tight to everything and everybody like holding tighter is somehow going to renegotiate the agreement.

It ain't.

I have to face the same thing.

The difference is, I prepare for it.

Because at some point, all of us have to prepare for the end.

That's not dark.

That's the deal.

There is going to come a time where no matter what you did or didn't do, no matter what you said or didn't say, no matter what you lived or didn't live, you're going to face something much bigger than your own opinion.

Some call it the Creator.

Some call him God.

Some call her a goddess.

Some say we go back to the earth.

Call it whatever makes sense to you.

Either way, you are going to face a fate bigger than yourself.

And yet, knowing ALL of that, look how regular we treat our moments.

That's the crazy part.

We walk around like we got another shipment of Tuesdays coming.

Like somebody got a warehouse full of extra years.

We'll waste six months worried about what somebody said about us. Lose three years trying to impress people we don't even like. Spend an entire afternoon arguing with somebody who ain't thought seriously about their own life since breakfast.

Then wonder where the time went.

We become the competition that doesn't want us performing at higher levels.

Think about that.

We somehow forget that this whole thing has an ending and get caught up in opinions of others, trends, he say, she say or just the opinions running around in our own minds.

And some people are so busy talking and judging that they don't even take the time to calculate the long list of their own decisions.

I do.

I calculate that list.

And I calculate it very well.

So those things that are part of the context that you may have forgotten?

I remember.

I remember what happened.

I remember what I chose.

I remember why I chose it.

I remember what it cost.

I remember what I learned.

I remember what I would do differently.

And I remember what I would do exactly the same.

That's why everybody doesn't have to understand my decisions.

Leave them to their work.

Seriously.

Leave humans to their work.

Because we all got some.

Everybody has a human duty.

Everybody has a responsibility.

Everybody has an opportunity.

Everybody has decisions sitting behind them and decisions waiting in front of them.

And everybody has the same fate somewhere down the road:

the ending.

Some sooner than others.

Nobody knows when their number comes up, but somehow people still find time to wake up and make somebody else's life their morning assignment.

You got your own whole human experience sitting there unfinished and you're studying mine?

That's impressive.

Because after all the struggles that come with being alive, people still find room to carry hate in their hearts.

Think about how expensive that is.

You already have bills.

Responsibilities.

Mistakes.

Family.

Work.

Dreams.

Things you need to fix.

Things you need to build.

Things you need to learn.

Things you need to let go.

And somewhere in that schedule you found an opening for hate?

That's commitment.

But that's also their work.

Not mine.

So I won't feel bad about living my life to the complete fullest with no regrets.

Why?

Because I understand my actions.

That doesn't mean every decision I make will be perfect.

It means they're mine.

I can examine them.

I can answer for them.

I can correct them.

I can learn from them.

I can live with them.

And when necessary, I can change them.

That's my work.

So leave them to theirs.

While they're concerned with you and your life, don't become so concerned with their concern that you start missing the pattern of yourself.

That's how people steal their own damn time.

Not because somebody took it.

Because they handed it over.

Watching.

Explaining.

Defending.

Comparing.

Arguing.

Proving.

Meanwhile, the clock ain't participating in none of this.

It's moving.

Everybody has a choice.

Everybody has an opportunity.

Everybody has work to do.

And everybody has to face the end.

So choose who you want to be.

Do your work.

Understand your actions.

Live your life.

And let everybody else calculate their own damn list.
